The special at Atlas Coney Island today wasn’t on the menu.
Customers, co-workers and her boss saved that designation for Myra Wright, who worked her last shift here after 29 years, pouring coffee refills and serving eggs and bacon right up to the time she said a tearful good-bye.
“I’m going to miss all of them,” said Wright, who celebrated her retirement with cake, flowers and candy. “But I’ll be back in and see them from time to time …
“I’m ready. I’ve been here a long time, and I’ve been thinking about it,” the 72-year-old said. “Now I don’t have to get up at 4 o’clock in the morning.”
