Brand Kicks Off Milestone With Huge Party Week

Arooga's Celebrates Ten Years of Serving the Ultimate Sports Dining ExperienceHarrisburg, PA  (RestaurantNews.com)  Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar will be blowing out 10 candles on its birthday cake this year, and the brand is looking forward to many more to come.

On July 26th, 2008, Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar opened the doors of its first location on 7025 Allentown Boulevard in Harrisburg, Pa, and their mantra from the beginning was to be better and be different.  So, while the neighboring sports bar may have had 10 TV’s, Arooga’s had 100 TV’s, which broadcast every game that could be viewed from every seat and included interactive gaming.  The brand focused on fresh ingredients, scratch made dishes, and quality control-adopting the motto, “just because we’re a sports bar, doesn’t mean our ingredients have to suck”.  They created a space within their restaurant for families, as well as the ultimate playground for adults boasting a wrap-around bar that seated 60 guests and had 40 beers on draft.  Sure…none of this sounds unusual today, but back then, these concepts were revolutionary, and Arooga’s quickly became a powerhouse within their market.  Their popularity was so much so that, within 2 years of opening their first location, they opened 4 more in the area to accommodate their growing fanbase.

In 2010, the brand cemented its reputation as a regional restaurant powerhouse by besting more than 250 entrants in 36 states in America’s Next Top Restaurant Franchise, a contest co-sponsored by Sysco Foods and The Franchise Edge in their nationwide search to find an independent restaurant to become the next great franchise opportunity.  Their first franchise location opened in 2015, adjacent to Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT, and the brand has since entered into agreements for nearly 100 locations across the East Coast, and has its sights set on further expansion nationwide.  Presently, Arooga’s has 19 operating locations across seven states, with location #20 opening this fall in Rockville Centre, NY.

Of course, the brand is having a party that out-parties all parties to celebrate this huge milestone, kicking off the celebration July 17th with the launch of their new menu, and events through the week and weekend:

  • Wednesday, July 18th: Party like it’s 2008 with retro night-35 cent wings, $5 Bud Light pitchers, and the OG bartenders from back in the day making special guest appearances behind the bar.
  • Thursday, July 19th: 2008 throwback music and trivia at 7pm with Big Prizes and Giveaways.
  • Friday, July 20th: Wing Eating Contest for $250 Prize and D-BO live on stage at 10pm.
  • Saturday, July 21st: Cornhole Contest at 3pm for $250 prize, King Kong Beer Pong at 6pm for $250 prize, Ghost Face Wing Eating Contest at 8pm for grand prize of Free Wings for a Year, $1 Bud Light Drafts all day, and Emily’s Toybox live on stage at 9pm.
  • Sunday, July 22nd: Sunday Funday Brunch 11am-2pm and $1 Arooga Light drafts all day.

To commemorate their actual anniversary date, the brand will be pouring their signature Arooga Light drafts all day for $1 each at all Pennsylvania locations on July 26th.

“We’re coming full circle with this celebration, bringing back old prices, bartenders, and bands.” said Huether, Jr.  “It will be a week-long bash like no other, and we can’t wait to party like it’s 2008.”

Arooga’s currently has 19 locations, which include franchises in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Massachusetts, along with their 10 corporate locations throughout the central Pennsylvania region.  Location 20 is scheduled to open this fall in Rockville Centre, NY.
