State Farm Stadium is one of the state-run COVID-19 vaccination sites.

The health care workers and volunteers were able to choose from a Pork Chile Verde Bowl, a Pork Chile Rojo Bowl, or a Veggie Tamales topped with Queen Sauce.

“We appreciate everyone who is working to keep Arizonans healthy and safe, and this was just one small way we felt we could say thank you for all they are doing,” says Linda Nash and Steve Rosenfield, Barrio Queen’s owners.

Barrio Queen has always made it a mission to give back, and was one of the first restaurants to quickly react and lend a helping hand in any way it could since the very beginning of the pandemic. Since March 2020, the restaurant has donated food to help the health care heroes who were working around the clock at HonorHealth Hospitals, Mayo Clinic, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Banner Health, and Valleywise. The drops always also included gift cards and T-shirts.

Barrio Queen also created a co-branded shirt with Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Sold on the Barrio Queen website, 100% of the sales are donated then donated to that hospital.

And, since the very beginning of the pandemic, Barrio Queen has offered 20% off to all medical personnel as a thank you, a promotion which continues to this day. They simply need to show their medical badge for the discount.

“We feel it’s our duty to help and give back in any way we can,” says Nash and Rosenfield.
