RESPONSIBLITIES:
Hormel Foods has exciting opportunities and challenges for Foodservice Sales Representatives. Foodservice Sales Representatives work in the dynamic foodservice industry selling to restaurants, fast-food chains, hotels, hospitals, airline caterers, cruise ships, universities, and more through food distributors. Calling on distributors, getting new products into distribution centers, presenting, networking, negotiating, preparing and sampling food products, and acting as a consultant are all responsibilities for success in this position. In addition, representatives are in charge of implementing marketing/promotion strategies for their products at the distributor level.
TRAINING:
Foodservice Sales Representatives are assigned to one of our training locations throughout the U.S., and spend between six to twelve months training. They will go through online training and will have a mentor each week for the first 18 weeks. This program consists of partnering with a sales manager and their team to learn about our products, the Company, competitor products, industry dynamics, selling techniques, and sharpening presentation skills. Seminars at our corporate headquarters in Austin, MN will include presentations by the Hormel Foods marketing department to increase product knowledge and selling strategies. Our new hires will go through a selling skills training session called "Getting the Edge" within their first 6 months of employment and then an advanced selling skills enhancement seminar called "The Selling Edge" after 18 months to 2 years.
ADVANCEMENT:
Relocation is important to advance in a Foodservice sales and marketing career. A typical career will involve 2 -- 3 promotions within the first five years, and each promotion usually requires relocation. There are plenty of advancement opportunities as a successful sales representative can advance to Territory Manager, Account Executive, Senior Account Executive, Regional Chain Manager, Area Manager, and Regional Management positions. Success in sales may also lead to advanced positions in sales management, marketing, category/brand management, international, or other corporate positions. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A requirement of this position is to be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have a valid work Visa and be open to relocation. Preferred candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Professional Selling, Business Administration, Agribusiness, Hospitality, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or a related field, with a 2.7 cumulative GPA or higher.
