Landry’s Restaurants has won a bidding war to buy Irvine-based Claim Jumper, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September.
Landry’s, the parent company of a string of casual dining brands including Rainforest Cafe, beat out at least two other bidders interested in buying Claim Jumper at an auction that took place Thursday night. The final sale price: $76.6 million, Claim Jumper spokeswoman Anita-Marie Laurie said. (updated Monday, Nov. 1)
The acquisition price clearly beat the initial $52.8 million bid made by Los Angeles-based private equity firm Private Capital Partners — the original bidder.
“Landry’s is the highest and best bid,” Laurie said.
