Denny Hebson, 1937-2010: Longtime Glenview restaurateur who led Hackney’s chain

Denny Hebson’s wife, Liz, called him “a born saloonkeeper.”
Going to work at Hackney’s on Lake in Glenview was a labor of love for Mr. Hebson, who managed that restaurant and was chief executive officer of the family-owned company that operates six Chicago-area restaurants.
“He worked seven days a week because he wanted to,” Liz said. “His customers were his friends.”
Mr. Hebson, 72, died of cancer Friday, Feb. 26, at his home in Glenview.
