Executive starts new life running restaurant

Many people flipping burgers dream of a career in high finance. Tom Johnson’s dream was just the opposite, and at 9 a.m. June 13 his dream finally came true with the grand opening of Culver’s of Madison Heights.

When Johnson, a 20-year Troy resident and lifelong Michigander who spent 15 years as manager of international corporate finance for Chrysler Corporation, was offered a buyout, he grabbed it and ran. After determining that a franchise restaurant was what he wanted to do, he decided on Culver’s, a family-owned, Wisconsin-based company with a track record of 435 restaurants in 19 states, and with only one failure early on.
