Permits willing, today is opening day for Rustic, the new restaurant from winemaker/filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. It’s located within the Francis Ford Coppola Winery, which remains under renovation, though the fully functional temporary tasting room is open.

The subtitle for Rustic is “Francis’s Favorites”, which should give you a good idea of the (mostly Italian-American and Neapolitan) theme at work here. Chiarello vet Nick Petrilli is heading the kitchen, and Eater has some shots of the interior, which includes plenty of movie memorabilia. Here’s Scoop’s chat with Mr. Francis Ford Coppola himself:
