Durango, CO (RestaurantNews.com) Retail candy and specialty toy franchisor, Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory, Inc. announces a new store opening in Tucson, Arizona at Park Place Mall. Owners Greg and Laura McKeehan opened their doors on Friday February 13th.
The store is located in the Park Place Mall at 5870 E. Broadway Blvd.; (520-790-0851). They are open Mondays – Saturdays 10a.m. – 9p.m. and Sundays from 11am. – 6p.m.
The retail candy store is fun and whimsical with bright colors, smells of caramel and fudge, and pieces that imitate a candy factory decorate the store.
The “amusement park” atmosphere is for children and adults to enjoy while they shop:
- Over 1,400 varieties of conventional, unusual, and nostalgic candies prepackaged and in bulk bins throughout the store
- Store-made chocolates & fudge
- Novelty soft-drinks (Zombie Juice, Dog Drool, etc.), caramel apples, and chocolate covered strawberries & dried fruits
- Specialty & novelty toys, plush animals, and collectibles
- Unpretentious décor which creates a “COZY” shopping environment
Greg and Laura McKeehan, 20 year residents of Tucson, discovered the store when wandering into the franchise at Chandler Fashion Center, in Chandler, Arizona. Greg conversed with owner Hasu Patel, and after learning more about the store, Patel encouraged Greg to look into the franchising opportunity.
The McKeehans said they realized the need for a retail candy store in Tucson.
According to Greg, after researching the opportunity and discussions with the Franchise Team they decided to open a franchise.
“The Fuzziwig’s Franchise Team was helpful and encouraging. From the initial business planning, to store building, and franchise training, the guidance and communication from the FCF team made our venture smooth and successful,” McKeehan said.
Laura McKeehan said what she likes most about the business is “it’s FUN, customers come in with a smile, and are reminiscent.” Recent customers are looking forward to returning for the store made fudge. Laura also said that customers are surprised by the substantial inventory.
Greg has worked for Xerox Corporation for 30 years and Laura has worked in medical billing and retail. They hope the Park Place store’s success can lead to exploring the possibility of opening another FCF on the north end of Tucson.
Founded in 1995, Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory, Inc. initially consisted of company-owned stores only. In 2001 the company launched its franchise program and quickly grew to 28 stores throughout the US. Today there are 53 stores state-side, The Bahamas, Guam, and locations soon to be opened in the United Arab Emirates and Dubai. FCF is based in Colorado with offices in Durango and Steamboat.
