Grease on sidewalk outside of Emeril’s restaurant leads to lawsuit

Two New Orleans residents have filed a lawsuit against Emeril’s Restaurant after allegedly slipping in grease that had built up on the sidewalk.
Julie D. Hunt-Juneau and Paul C. Juneau filed suit against Emerils Homebase, Emerils, E.J.L Corp., L.J.E Partnership and The Travelers Indemnity Co. on July 9 in Orleans Parish District Court.
The defendants are accused of negligence for creating a hazardous and defective condition by allowing the surface of the sidewalk to become slippery by covering it with a substance believed to be a mixture of grease, food substances and other undissolved waste material.
