Many come to Southwest Florida restaurants and cafes for the jam (sessions)
Dominick Bello grins and nods to the sweet rhythm of acoustic guitars, mandolin and banjo onstage.
Seconds later, he can’t hold back anymore.
A chrome harmonica appears in his hand, and suddenly he’s playing along from his booth at Darla’s Restaurant.
He’s not alone, of course.
Not here.
At a nearby table, someone else claps out the beat with a pair of spoons. And at another table, another customer strums along on his own guitar to tunes ranging from “Rocky Top” to Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”
That’s how it is every Thursday night at the east Fort Myers restaurant: The line blurs between audience and performer at the weekly acoustic jams, and everyone gets a chance to sing or play along – whether they do it from the makeshift stage or their restaurant table.
