Off Vine owners Richard Falzone, Greg Fedderly and Tony Hernandez are proud to announce the official reopening of Off Vine Restaurant. This follows a 23-month remodel of the fire-damaged restaurant that cost the trio nearly $750,000 to complete.

Located at 6263 Leland Way, near the famed intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street in the heart of the Sunset & Vine Business Improvement District, Off Vine is a charming 3,187 sq. ft. restaurant set in a 1908 Arts-and-Crafts style house. On April 27, 2008, Off Vine was forced to close its doors when an electrical fire nearly engulfed the house during dinner. Everyone safely exited and no injuries were reported.

In remodeling the house, the owners of Off Vine were required to bring the house up to code and added a sprinkler system, larger restrooms and a wheelchair ramp to the house. Other additions include a new state-of-the-art kitchen and an upstairs room adorned with a 13-ft. coffered ceiling. One thing that has not changed is the menu, which still offers favorite dishes, including the Shrimp and Crab Stuffed Tomato and the Pecan Breaded Chicken.

During the remodel, Falzone set up a temporary office on the porch of Off Vine, where he responded to e-mails and calls from loyal customers. It served as a reminder of all that was lost, as well as a reminder for the potential of Off Vine’s future.

“Our journey has been long and tumultuous, full of struggles and setbacks,” Falzone said. “It also has come to exemplify the strength of a community that has continually offered guidance, encouragement and support to a small business that found itself struggling to reopen its doors during one of the worst economic crises our country has ever seen.”

Falzone said that the entire original kitchen staff is returning, along with a handful of servers.

“I’m pleased to welcome Off Vine back to the neighborhood,” Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti said. “This Hollywood gem adds to the continued revitalization of our community and is especially important to our local economy during these tough times.”

“Off Vine is finally coming home,” Falzone said. “Come home with us.”
