On The Border Celebrates New Restaurant in Schaumburg with a VIP Party and $100 Beer Bottles Benefiting Make-A-Wish IllinoisDallas, TX  (RestaurantNews.com)  On The Border® is expanding its Chicago profile and is making a statement at its new restaurant in Schaumburg, where for one night, beer bottles will sell for $100.

You read that right.

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina®, which already enjoys four thriving locations in greater Chicago, is set to extend its city-wide local profile with a state-of-the-art prototype in Schaumburg, which opens to the public on Monday, November 18 at 11 am. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10:45 am.

At a pre-opening VIP event set for 5 pm on Thursday, November 14, On The Border will let its VIPs in on what has historically been a pre-opening ritual among team members: signing beer bottles that make up a beer-bottle chandelier, which is the eye magnet and signature centerpiece at On The Border restaurants.

The cost per bottle: $100, with all proceeds to benefit Make-A-Wish® Illinois.

“We’ve been a proud neighbor in the Chicago area for the past 16 years and are excited to bring the OTB experience to Schaumburg,” said Steve Clark, On The Border’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are part of Chicago’s DNA and we wanted to let guests become a part of On The Border’s DNA in Schaumburg. We’re modifying a good OTB tradition to create an even better one involving our community while supporting a great cause.”

In addition to becoming a part of the Schaumburg On The Border, each $100 donor will receive $100 in OTB dining certificates for use on future visits and one lucky donor will win OTB dining certificates for an entire year.

Located at 870 N. Meacham Road in Schaumburg, the 6951 square foot restaurant, which will employ 130, is a new prototype for the brand, featuring an open kitchen with a mesquite wood-burning grill, brighter colors, more rustic finishes, unique art & décor, and two ‘El Presidente’ booths, special sections perfect for celebrations and gatherings. The restaurant will also offer a spacious cantina with more than 32 tequilas, 12 draft beers, and multiple flat screens for sports viewing and an expanded outdoor patio with seating for 60 people.

“Schaumburg will experience our new state-of-the-art prototype, with a laid back atmosphere and a natural look that leans into the Border-style roots of this brand,” continued Clark. “It’s an OTB with all of the things that our other Chicago locations have embraced, including Mesquite-grilled steak fajitas made from premium outside skirt steak, ‘Guacamole Live’ made fresh-to-order at your table, homemade salsa and sauces and hand-pressed tortillas. And of course, since we are famous for margaritas, we are bringing a wide and a crave-able selection of them to Schaumburg including our Original Meltdown, where we top your margarita of choice with Midori, Chambord, Cointreau, Grand Marnier or your favorite tequila. We’ve created a new look while still honoring the OTB heritage, flavors, great times and cocktails that this city loves.”

On The Border in Schaumburg will be open for lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Happy Hour will be featured Monday through Thursday with special priced drinks available all day. Happy Hour food specials with appetizers starting at $2 will be available in the cantina Monday through Thursday from 3-7 p.m. and again late-night from 9-11 p.m.
