Northeast Tarrant County is home to sports fans as passionate about competition as they are about the American dream. Now, the community has a new restaurant for celebrating their wins: Red Dog Right!
Named after an audible football play, Red Dog Right provides a modern tailgate party experience to the modern family. Now open at State Highway 114 and Southlake Boulevard next to Kirby’s Steakhouse, the Dog is the latest brain child of Addison-based Front Burner Restaurants, which also operates Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar in Plano and The Ranch at Las Colinas in Irving, both critically lauded farm-to-fork hot spots.
The first thing guests notice at the Dog is its collegial, cozy atmosphere. They can turn left and choose the salvaged car hood-topped bar featuring beer taps grafted onto dual 1950s-era refrigerators, or they can head straight to relax in the plush red sofas and chairs set around a marble-mantled fireplace in the Coach’s Lounge. If it’s family night, they can claim a comfy booth lit by a green banker’s lamp. Or they can turn right for more casual diner-style tables and chairs – great for families because they’re near the Dog’s video arcade as well as the Locker Rooms (known to most as restrooms).
Anywhere the guests dine, they’re bound to notice the Dog’s 37 state-of-the-art flat screen TVs that lock in on a wide swath of sports programming, from the usual major-league team sports to all UFC fights, NASCAR races, and local-interest high school sports.
The Dog’s featured drinks include alcoholic milkshakes like the Espressolada and specialty cocktails from the low-cal Slim Rita to the sinful acai spirit-based The Devil Wears Nada. But 20 draft beers served at an ice-cold 29 degrees anchor the Dog’s playbook, ranging from the usual domestics to craft brews like Rahr Buffalo Butt and Mama’s Little Yella Pils. Neighborhood trends determined the Dog’s selection of 20 wines, most available by the glass.
Red Dog Right provides its guests value with Red Dog Rewards, a tiered loyalty program that rewards members with 10 percent bonus perks. And soon, Head Coach Jimmy Fell and his coaching staff will begin hosting community events at the Dog such as tailgate parties and charity fundraisers.
