You’ll probably hear grumbling about the calorie counts, the bogglingly big servings and the crowds at the door. Ah, the price of success. So arrive early, go during an off hour or get in line and wait — because there’s going to be a meltdown in Cleveland Heights when a second location of Melt Bar and Grilled opens Friday.

Step into the new, 5,000-square-foot restaurant at Cedar and South Taylor roads and, despite its different configuration and much shinier polyurethane surfaces, you’re quickly reminded of the eatery’s original location in Lakewood. All the funky visuals are on grand display: galleries of giant injection-plastic yard figures, vintage license plates, a bold yellow P.O.C. beer sign, the massive Velveeta box and Cleveland memorabilia galore. The tin ceiling is painted a similarly intense deep blue.

“I’ve taken meticulous steps to do this place exactly as in Lakewood — the menu, the [cooking] line, the service protocol, first-come seating, the whole nine yards,” says owner and executive chef Matt Fish. Kitchen manager Erick Lamotte will assist him in sailing the new ship.
