The Habit Burger Grill raised the funds during September. Thousands of guests at more than 125 Habit locations nationwide made donations to benefit No Kid Hungry, and in return received a certificate to enjoy a complimentary Charburger with cheese.

“Ending childhood hunger in America is something we take seriously,” said Russ Bendel, chief executive officer at The Habit Burger Grill. “Since 2010, The Habit has partnered with No Kid Hungry by donating 100 percent of proceeds from more than 20 grand-opening events.”

The Dec. 21 presentation took place at Quartyard San Diego, with No Kid Hungry’s local partner, San Diego Hunger Coalition, participating. The new San Diego Habit Burger Grill Catering Truck—the restaurant chain’s fourth truck— erved the public a $5 Charburger Combo. All proceeds went to San Diego Hunger Coalition.

“We were excited when The Habit Burger joined the No Kid Hungry family of restaurant partners,” said Bill Shore, founder & chief executive officer of Share Our Strength, which operates the No Kid Hungry campaign. “The Habit Burger has emerged as an innovative and generous corporate partner in the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry initiative.”

Anahid Brakke, executive director of San Diego Hunger Coalition, remarked: “Only by working together can childhood hunger end in San Diego. Community events like this are a great way to get involved in the effort to make sure no kids in San Diego go to bed hungry.”
