Tweed Restaurant Philadelphia, Farm to Table Brings You Lunch

Tweed Restaurant, determined to bring the Farm to your table, is now open for lunch. Their lunch menu features sandwiches alongside some of your dinner favorites.

Chef David Cunningham has a thing for sandwiches. “It used to be that sandwiches were boring, you either got cheese with ham, turkey or roast beef. Today that’s no longer true, a sandwich can be just as complex as a dinner plate. I still stay very true to the flavor of the produce. For example, the lamb burger, I chose to keep it simple with the dill tzatziki to bring out the flavor of the lamb.”

Customers who have dined at Tweed for lunch have quickly made the lamb burger the lunch favorite, the combination truly complements the meat without it being over powering.

It was a real challenge for Chef David to find farms within the 100-mile radius that specializes in cold cuts. He eventually found a couple of great farms around his hometown in Bucks County that produce amazing farm sausages, salami and ham as well as dairy farms with long traditions of cheese making.

The amount of time Chef David Cunningham is spending on finding the right locally farmed produce is impressive. He has made it his sole mission to bring the farm to your table, and it is something he has been passionate about since before it became a trend.

“I believe in smaller farms, Chef David says, and I believe America produces some of the finest produce in the world and we need to take advantage of what we have in our backyard”. Born and raised in Pennsylvania he knows the region well and he has taken advantage of the seasonal and regional produce the farms in the area offers.

Edward Bianchini, the owner of Tweed is excited to finally be open for lunch. He eventually wants to offer brunch on the weekends, to make Tweed a destination for all dining experiences.  

Tweed Restaurant is located on 114 South 12th Street and opened early June of 2010. The Farm to Table philosophy is one of the core elements of the restaurant. The restaurant was completely renovated and the interior is at once both sleek and comfortable.
