Captain D’s Appoints Monte Jump as Executive Vice President of Marketing

Captain D's Appoints Monte Jump as Executive Vice President of MarketingContinuing to strengthen and enhance Captain D’s executive team, Phil Greifeld, CEO & President, announced its newest member, Monte Jump, as its Executive Vice President of Marketing. Jump most recently served as Executive Vice President of Marketing for Buffet’s, Inc.

In his new position, Jump will be responsible for all of Captain D’s marketing activities, including advertising, media planning, product development, concept positioning, consumer research, local marketing, public relations and social media.

“Monte holds a tremendous amount of experience in the restaurant field, having held key marketing positions at very well-known brands,” Greifeld said. “Monte will be a strong asset to our team, igniting a new creative spark to our historic brand. I am delighted to have Monte as a member of the D’s executive team.”

Jump most recently served as the Executive Vice President of Marketing for Buffet’s, Inc. – a $1.2 billion company. At Buffet’s he directed media plans for 136 DMA’s and led TV markets to a 10% company increase over non-TV markets. He spearheaded the entire marketing program for the brand helping to identify target markets, core consumers and overall brand positioning.

Prior to Buffets, Inc. Jump served as the Vice President of Marketing for Carrabba’s Italian Grill, and held the same position at Golden Corral. Jump began his career with PepsiCo and since then has spent a total of nearly 15 years in various marketing and brand manager positions. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS in Chemical Engineering and has also received an MBA from SMU in Dallas, Texas.

“Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of leading restaurant marketing initiatives with a variety of brands. Captain D’s is undergoing some exciting changes and I see a tremendous potential in this loved, veteran brand,” he said.

Jump’s appointment is the latest in a string of new hires by CEO Greifeld, including Janet Duckham, Vice President of Procurement, Michael Lippert, Executive Vice President of Operations and Peter Gibbons, VP of Product Development. Each of these executives will serve key roles in strengthening and leading the brand.

“This is an exciting year for the Captain D’s brand, as we are laying down a strong infrastructure and strategy for 2011 and beyond,” said Greifeld. “Jump will be an integral part of our strategy development aimed and benefiting our brand and franchisees.”
