Grandy’s Announces Development Agreement for Dallas-Fort Worth Area

Grandy’s announced the signing of a new agreement with current franchisee Sam Poonawala to open two Grandy’s locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth market by year-end 2011.

The new Grandy’s locations will open within two convenience store locations operated by Mr. Poonawala. The first will be located at the corner of Webb Chapel Road and Royal Lane in Dallas and the second unit will open in Fort Worth on Bridgewood Drive. Both will be serving Grandy’s famous home-cooking, sweet tea and southern hospitality.

“We are big believers in Grandy’s and what it represents,” said Sam Poonawala. “We have learned that the brand provides a great business opportunity for us as we create additional profits within our growing number of convenience store locations.”

Mr. Poonawala also operates a Grandy’s convenience store location at Regal Row and Interstate-35 E. in Dallas.

“Sam is a valued member of the Grandy’s family,” said Ward Olgreen, President and CEO of Grandy’s and sister company Souper Salad. “We believe there is tremendous opportunity for the brand as a free-standing concept as well as in non-traditional locations such as c-stores, airports and universities.”

Dallas-based Souper Salad, Inc., operators of Grandy’s, is owned by an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners.
