Teriyaki Madness Is Experiencing Explosive Growth

The Asian-Inspired Fast-Casual Brand Is Preparing to Double in Size In 2019 Thanks to its Standout Franchise Offering

Teriyaki Madness Is Experiencing Explosive GrowthDenver, CO  (RestaurantNews.com)  American teriyaki they’d grown to love while at the University of Washington in Seattle. Eating big, healthy bowls of grilled chicken, vegetables and rice after working out, they suspected the rest of the country would crave the Asian flavors and great value of Teriyaki Madness.

They wanted to take the Teriyaki Concept back to their home in Las Vegas so they approached the owner of their favorite and busiest Teriyaki Shop (Teriyaki Madness) who agreed to teach them everything.

Not long after that fateful trip, the Madness began. The trio opened their first shop in Las Vegas and the concept gained some traction with customers attracted to great Teriyaki. It was only when they started receiving amazing reviews from professional food critics that their restaurant saw the lines of people reminiscent of the most successful Seattle shops!

The boys attracted customers who wanted their own TMADs and franchising was born.  Shops sprung up around Las Vegas as the Founders and the newly minted franchisees began building their second, third and even fourth shops!

Wishing to take TMAD to the next level, the founders recruited Michael Haith (Maui Wowi, Doc Popcorn) as an investor and to sit on the Board of Directors.  Haith spearheaded the brand’s national expansion and in 2016 acquired the franchisor from the founders and investors. Haith immediately tapped his network to recruit what is currently one of the best support teams in the industry.

Now at 45 units and counting, the Madness is spreading as the brand is poised to more than double its footprint to 100 units in 2019 and rapid expansion worldwide to 500 units through franchising.

“With the absence of direct national competitors, Teriyaki Madness is poised to become the leader in the segment, with plans to enter several new markets and more than double in size in 2019,” said Haith. “Over the last year, we invested time and resources into getting the proper people and procedures in place to prepare ourselves for this growth. We’re very excited to bring our craveable food and unique, edgy brand to so many new customers.”

While customers are flocking to Teriyaki Madness, franchisees are gravitating toward the brand for its leadership team’s big brains. Teriyaki Madness’ growing corporate team is oozing with franchise expertise gained from experience with major fast casual chains and franchise brands like McDonald’s, Chipotle, Noodles & Co., Smashburger and Portillo’s, to name a few. The assembly of this much brain power helped Teriyaki Madness formulate a strategic growth plan that, when coupled with its crave-worthy menu, has helped the brand gain traction as the leader in Asian fast casual.

“We evaluated around 20 different concepts before ultimately landing on Teriyaki Madness,” said Greenville and Chandler franchisee Keith Colson. “We liked that the food was healthier and is made with fresh, quality ingredients. When we dug in beyond the food, it was clear the leadership team had their act together as far as support and training.”

With a low investment compared to other fast-casual concepts, high average unit volume and a small footprint due to heavy delivery and takeout traffic, it’s no wonder the Teriyaki Madness franchise opportunity is attracting more interest than ever. The low-cost entry provides accessibility to both experienced multi-unit ownership as well as single-unit franchisees. Those who thrive in the brand’s model have a strong work ethic and are ready to learn how to operate a restaurant with strong profitability.  The brand is currently engaging multi-unit franchisees who are interested in staking their claim in growing markets and territories from coast-to-coast.
