From First Job to First Store: Prescott Valley Robeks Welcomes New Owner

A recent college graduate who started at Robeks at age 16 now owns the store, and she wants to give others the same chance to learn a business from the ground up

From First Job to First Store: Prescott Valley Robeks Welcomes New OwnerPrescott Valley, AZ  (RestaurantNews.com)  Kari Kasun McCauslin was 16 when she started her first job at Robeks. Seven years later, now a newlywed and recent college graduate, she is the owner of her first store, the Prescott Valley Robeks at 3140 N Glassford Hill Rd #102. Robeks, the go-to spot for creatively crafted fresh smoothies, juices, acai and smoothie bowls, artisan toasts and handheld bites, has been part of her story from the start.

Kasun McClauslin worked her way from crew member to general manager over those seven years, and ownership felt like the natural next step. What drew her to it was the brand’s straightforward business model, something she values all the more after earning her degree in Human Factors/Psychology at nearby Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

“Studying how to design and build a world that is more usable for humans has given me a perspective of the importance of simple processes. The Robeks business model makes operations straightforward for employees and approachable for customers,” said Kasun McClauslin, owner of the Prescott Valley Robeks.

The community around the store is another part of the appeal. The Prescott Valley location serves a loyal base of regulars who stop in for fresh, better-for-you options, and many of them are focused on their health. Kasun McClauslin takes pride in knowing that anything they order will be good for them. She says the wholesome ingredients and healthful add-ons set Robeks apart from other brands in the category. Her personal favorite is the Acai Energizer, which she says tastes great while delivering restorative antioxidants and satisfying protein.

“Robeks was a great first job that turned into a career,” Kasun McClauslin added. “What I love most is the connection with our regulars. They come to Robeks because they care about their health. Serving this community as an owner is a dream come true.”

Having come up through the ranks herself, Kasun McClauslin also sees ownership as a chance to pay that experience forward to her team.

“That is the part of this I am most excited about,” Kasun McClauslin said. “I want to give others the same opportunity I had to learn a business from the ground up and see how it’s run. A first job can lead somewhere much bigger than you expect.”
