Friday Night Fish Fry: Soulman's Bar-B-Que Celebrates a Beloved Texas TraditionDallas–Fort Worth, TX  (RestaurantNews.com)  For generations of North Texans, Friday nights during Lent mean one thing: gathering around the table for a comforting, no-frills fish fry. In 2026, Soulman’s Bar-B-Que continues that tradition with its fan-favorite Friday Night Fish Fry, served fresh every Friday evening at all Soulman’s locations.

Available every Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Soulman’s Friday Night Fish Fry has become a seasonal ritual for families observing Lent and anyone craving a classic, homestyle seafood meal done right.

“Friday Night Fish Fry is one of those traditions our guests truly look forward to every year,” said Brett Randle, CEO of Soulman’s Bar-B-Que. “It’s simple, it’s familiar, and it brings people together – which is exactly what Soulman’s has always been about.”

Soulman’s Fish Fry features golden, deep-fried fish fillets, cooked fresh in small batches and paired with crispy hush puppies and guests’ choice of Southern sides, including:

  • Award-winning house-cut fries
  • Texas-style creamed corn
  • Southern-fried cabbage
  • Classic coleslaw

The popularity of Soulman’s Friday Night Fish Fry has also earned national attention. In 2025, the tradition was featured by Eat This, Not That!, recognizing Soulman’s as a standout destination for comforting, crave-worthy fish fry fare during Lent.

“That kind of recognition means a lot because it reflects what our guests already know,” Randle added. “We don’t overcomplicate things – we focus on quality, consistency, and taking care of people.”

Soulman’s offers two hearty Fish Fry meal options, available for dine-in or carry-out at all locations: The Medium Catch has four pieces of fried fish, two sides, and hush puppies and sells for $14.49; The Big Catch has six pieces of fried fish, two sides, and hush puppies for $15.49.

Family-owned and Texas-born, Soulman’s has built its reputation by honoring traditions that matter – from low-and-slow hickory-smoked barbecue to seasonal favorites like Friday Night Fish Fry. As Lent approaches in 2026, the company invites North Texans to continue a tradition that feels like home.
