In the Sunday, Nov. 21st episode Don Fertman, the Chief Development Officer of the Subway franchise chain, will go undercover and work with some of the best employees and managers in the company. He has played an important role in building the Subway brand to one of the largest fast service restaurants in the world, but he rarely experiences the regular operation of a Subway restaurant from the Milford, CT headquarters.

After 29 years of working with the company, Don wore a disguise and pretended to be a trainee to cover his identity. He was put to work chopping vegetables, cleaning the floors and baking bread in multiple Subway locations. He learned first hand about some of the time and money saving techniques store managers and employees have developed to make their locations as efficient as possible.

During his Undercover Boss mission, Don works with a number of Subway’s best workers. Viewers can watch him learn from Rev. Duane, who manages a Subway restaurant within a Baptist church in New York, or work with one of the youngest managers in the chain in Florida. He witnesses the efforts of Sheri, who is known as the “Subway Lady” to all of her customers, and is trained by the toughest Sandwich Artist trainer in all of the Subway franchise.

The President of the Subway brand, Fred DeLuca, sent Don Fertman in his place because he felt he would be recognized. They both received first hand knowledge on how well certain company policies and developments are working, including the breakfast menu that was recently launched in 2010. Fans of this popular fast service restaurant can find out more about its inner workings by watching this new Undercover Boss episode.

Earlier this year, Undercover Boss televised the experiences of Hooters’ Coby Brooks and White Castle’s Dave Rife as they also worked incognito within their companies.
