Steve Plotnicki is one of the highest profile obsessive eaters in the food blogging world, and one of the most vocally opinionated. A co-founder of the site e-gullet, he recently appeared on celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations television show to discuss his endless passion for critiquing restaurants. He is by his own description a “destination diner,” meaning “the gourmet equivalent of the type of person who is willing to fly from St. Paul to St. Andrews in order to play golf, or to travel or from Miami to Milan to see his favorite soprano perform at La Scala.”
For years he has been eating relentlessly, and the fruits of this labor are in his recently released book, Opinionated About U.S. Restaurants 2011. It is intended for people just like him, or in his words, “This is a guide for people who regularly travel long distances solely for the purpose of eating at interesting restaurants.”
