October is National Cookie Month, but Erma of Max & Erma’s just couldn’t wait any longer. Starting Wednesday, Sept. 28, Max & Erma’s guests can enjoy free chocolate chip cookies. That’s this Wednesday and every Wednesday until, well, Erma gets tired of baking or runs out of cookie dough. In fact, Max & Erma’s goal is to give away one million cookies by the end of the year.
Guests who purchase any food item at participating restaurants, including appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees and desserts, will receive two of Erma’s famous chocolate chip cookies for free. Max & Erma’s started Free Cookie Wednesdays in Pittsburgh in January. The idea was so successful that it is being expanded to company-owned restaurants in 10 more cities.
“Guests tell us that Erma’s Fresh-baked Cookies really are special, but we had no idea that when we started giving away them away on Wednesdays, people would get so excited,” said Steve Weis, Max & Erma’s vice president of Operations. “It’s amazing how a free cookie, hot out of the oven, can put a smile on anybody’s face.” Some Pittsburgh restaurants have been giving away nearly 4,000 cookies a day, Weis added.
Free Cookie Wednesday restaurants are located in these communities: Ann Arbor, Detroit, Canton, Cincinnati, including Northern Kentucky, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and Norfolk.
