The Restaurant Industry Offers Many Paths to Career Success, Regardless of Age or Staff PositionWashington, DC  (RestaurantNews.com)  Ninety-seven percent of restaurant managers and ninety-four percent of shift crew employees have advanced to higher-paying jobs in the industry, and more than nine out of 10 restaurant employees 35 or older have advanced to a higher-paying job according to a workforce study released by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF).

As the most extensive research of the restaurant sector workforce in decades, “Who Works in the U.S. Restaurant Industry,” which was released in late August, details the opinions of nearly 5,100 Americans who currently work or formerly worked in the industry, as well as those who own or operate restaurants.

The latest infographic shows restaurants are the pathway to the American Dream, offering many avenues to success regardless of age or staff position. The infographic also highlights the various positions restaurant owners and operators held before reaching the top, with 84 percent previously being a restaurant manager.
