Burger battle sees local man back down, change name

A new burger joint in Windsor is changing its name amid allegations of plagiarism from a restaurant owner in California.

Around a week after JNG Burger Lounge opened its doors on Ottawa Street in late October, Joe Fallea, a consultant for the restaurant, received a message from a burger chain in San Diego accusing the Windsor restaurant of brand theft.

Both restaurants feature all-natural products and three types of burgers including grass-fed beef, hormone-free turkey and veggie with quinoa. The storefronts are similar, with Burger Lounge printed in brown and orange text.

Fallea said he is changing the name of the restaurant out of goodwill. He hasn’t decided what the new name will be, he said.
