Cha Cha’s Tacos & Tequila, the fresh innovative Latin restaurant located in Brea Downtown has been awarded the 2010 Business of the Year for Service from the Brea Chamber of Commerce.
“Opening a restaurant is a brave venture in any economy, and opening one during a recession like we’ve just experienced should have been a recipe for disaster,” said Sharon Wagner, CEO of the Brea Chamber of Commerce. “Our Business of the Year for Service recipient met the challenge head on with a recipe for success.”
Cha Cha’s opened in Brea Downtown in August 2009, by co-owners and seasoned restaurateurs Don Myers and Peter Serantoni, who have more than 60 years of combined success in the restaurant industry. Cha Cha’s recently reported a 60 percent increase in sales in 2010 over the same time period in 2009 (opening day of August 25 to December 31), and more than a 75 percent increase in total sales for December over December of 2009.
“We are proud that we opened our business in Brea and that we are members of the Brea community,” said Don Myers, co-owner of Cha Cha’s Tacos & Tequila, who accepted the award. “The quality of our food, cocktails, service and hospitality is the cornerstone of our business and we are honored to have won this award.”
“We would also like to recognize Dwight Manley, our landlord,” continued Myers. “He has been there for us since before we opened to offer guidance and help whenever we needed it, which is rare in today’s economy.”
“To succeed in today’s tough market you need to have the passion and drive like Don and Peter had in starting Cha Cha’s,” said Michael Duran, chairman of the Brea Chamber & SVP manager of Citizens Business Bank. “To be a profitable restaurant after the first year of being in business is truly outstanding. It was through a lot of hard work, never giving up and a strong consistent marketing campaign.”
