Fish City Grill Celebrates Second Annual Oyster Fest and Oyster Eating Contest

Fish City Grill Celebrates Second Annual Oyster Fest and Oyster Eating ContestNeighborhood Ventures, Inc., the parent company of Fish City Grill and Half Shells restaurants, is celebrating the love of oysters during its second annual Oyster Fest, which culminates in an Oyster Eating Contest on April 16 and 17, 2011.

“We had so much fun last year; we decided to make Oyster Fest an annual event. The Oyster eating contest is very entertaining, and all proceeds from the contest go to Wipe Out Kids Cancer. Their mission is to invest in the lives of children by funding cancer research, by healing the soul through fun experiences and by advocating for a cancer-free tomorrow,” said Bill Bayne, who co-founded Fish City Grill with his wife, Lovett. “We hope that lots of people come out to participate in the Oyster Fest fun this weekend and support Wipe Out Kids Cancer.”

In addition to the oyster eating contest, raffle tickets are being sold for $1 each to help raise money for Wipe Out Kids Cancer. Prizes include:

  • Four Dallas Cowboy tickets
  • Four Texas Ranger Tickets
  • $100 Home Depot Gift Card
  • $50 AX Gift for The Shops at Legacy
  • Golf Bag and Golf Accessories Basket

Oyster Fest’s oyster eating contest will take place at 3 p.m. on:

  • Saturday, April 16 at Fish City Grill, 2323 N. Henderson in Dallas and
  • Sunday, April 17 at Half Shells, The Shops at Legacy, Bishop St. in Plano.

The Oyster eating contest is simple. Played as a team of four, each team has two minutes – 30 seconds per team member – to eat as many raw oysters as possible. In addition to earning bragging rights for the year, contestants are supporting a deserving charity. All teams are required to pledge a minimum of $300. Team members can either pay or have sponsors to pledge their entry fee. The winning team receives a trip to New Orleans for three days and two nights, courtesy of Fish City Grill and Half Shells.

Fish City Grill’s Oyster Fest menu includes its classic Oyster Nachos plus Oysters Rockefeller, Blue Point Oysters, Black and Bleu Oysters, Oyster and Andouille Beignets, and Buffalo Oyster Tacos. A spicy Oyster Shooter featuring Tito’s vodka, and a Chardonnay from Oyster Bay Winery are on the drink menu for Oyster Fest 2011.
