Freebirds World Burrito, the fast casual burrito joint with the rock ‘n’ roll attitude, and its charitable arm World Works announced today it will partner with Operation Homefront Texas and Southern California chapters to support military families this holiday season through their Adopt A Family program. A total of fifty-six restaurants in Texas and California will participate by collecting gifts November 14 through December 16, 2011 in order to surprise their adopted family with a rockin’ holiday filled with great food, gifts and most of all, hope.
Operation Homefront will assign one military family per Freebirds restaurant based on an application process. Freebirds crews collect gifts based on their family’s wants and needs, which range from basics such as groceries, diapers and food, to fantasies such as bicycles, guitars, iPhones and Xbox 360s. “Each year, we invite our guests and the community to join us in a celebration of giving and we are always overwhelmed with gratitude by the outpouring of support,” said World Works Director Annette Beavers. “Last year we enabled a young cancer patient, Devin, to achieve her dream of experiencing New York’s fashion world first hand with a visit to the Marchesa design studio.”
On December 17 and 18, 2011, the families will be invited to come to the restaurant to receive their holiday gifts and sample some awesome Freebirds food and drink. Many restaurants provide a Christmas tree, and families choose whether to open the gifts then or take them home for the holiday. “We are so pleased with the tremendous efforts by Freebirds for Operation Homefront and our Adopt A Family program,” said Jennifer Cernoch, president of Operation Homefront of Texas. “We can’t wait to see what they come up with this year.”
