San Diego’s favorite sushi restaurant, Harney Sushi, is pulling out the party favors and getting ready to celebrate 10 years of fresh cuisine and cool beats with the “Share your Harney Story” contest. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a “Special 10” menu during the anniversary week from April 23-30, 2011 at both the Old Town and Oceanside locations.
“10 years is a big milestone for us and we are honored with the love and support we’ve had from San Diegans and visitors over the past decade,” says Harney Sushi’s founder, Dustin Summerville. “We’re excited to celebrate all of the memories that have been created over meals at Harney Sushi, from romantic to hysterical to absolutely outrageous.”
Guests can submit their tales of first dates, major milestones, epic nights and more to lauren@harneysushi.com with “My Harney Story” in the subject line from now through April 20, 2011. Finalists will be invited to the VIP 10 Year Anniversary Party where the grand prize winner will receive a $250 Harney Sushi gift card.
In addition, Executive Chef Anthony Sinsay has crafted a celebratory menu featuring 10 dishes for $10 that will be available in addition to the regular menu all week long. Menu options include both new and old favorites such as Not Your Everyday Nachos, Miso Harney Roll, Danielle Roll, Bagles & Lox, Celebration Roll, Dessert Sampler and more.
For those who want to join in on the action, Harney Sushi will host its biggest bash yet on April 26, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Old Town location. The party will feature a sushi buffet, open bar and live entertainment provided by DJ Cobra and the B Side Players. Tickets will be available to the general public for $100 per person and proceeds will benefit Chef Celebration. The event will be included in Chef Celebration’s dinner series and will feature food “celebration stations” with various courses provided by Chef Anthony Sinsay, Paul McCabe, Amy Diabase and Katsuya Fukushima. Harney Sushi cultivated their following of avid sushi lovers at their Old Town sushi bar over the past nine years. Even as a “fish out of water” in the predominately Mexican-influenced Old Town, San Diego, Harney Sushi has created a reputation for quality inventive rolls topped with a stylish “funk shui” environment. In 2008 Harney took their hot spot model to Northern San Diego County and opened a sister restaurant in the up-and-coming Oceanside Pier neighborhood. Harney indulgences include San Diego’s only sake bar, more than 25 award-winning wines, 40 of Japan’s best sakes, a private VIP booth and 35 creative specialty rolls invented by loyalists and sushi chefs. The most recent changes are the addition of off-site catering and a private banquet room at the Oceanside location. Harney Sushi provides that unique experience and aesthetic that separates the truly progressive from mere imitators.
Harney Sushi is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner is served daily from 5:30 p.m. to midnight. Happy Hour is every night from 10-midnight at both locations, with specials on sushi and appetizers. Harney Sushi also offers catering for office lunches, holiday events, cocktail parties, weddings and more.
