It’s been decades since belly dancers swirled around Jim Barbarie’s Restaurant with their hula-girl hips and brass finger-cymbals.
But for a long time, belly dancers packed them in on Friday nights at Barbarie’s, the steak and seafood house on Padanaram Road in Danbury.
“Belly dancers were a big thing here in the 1960s and ’70s,” said Tommy Barbarie, who has run the restaurant with his sister, Michelle, for more than a quarter-century. “People came from all over to see them and have dinner here.
