Laurier Gordon Ramsay: Rebirth of a restaurant

Just past the new fireplace at the entranceway of the landmark Laurier Ave. restaurant that used to be Laurier BBQ is a display case filled with desserts. The case, though vintage, is not original to the restaurant, but the desserts are. There’s the famous carrot cake, mocha cake, lemon meringue pie and “Holly Dolly” squares. All were beloved by the loyal customers of Laurier BBQ, which prided itself on a menu that changed little in its 75 years.

The sweets speak volumes about the restaurant’s new incarnation under the British superstar chef Gordon Ramsay. It says: Don’t worry. We’ve changed, but we’ve heard you, and your favourites are still here.

The restaurant re-opens today under its new name: Laurier Gordon Ramsay.
