Restaurant News Bites: McDonald's, Sonic, Wingstop McDonald’s is making more changes to its executive senior management staff. Current President Steve Easterbrook is resigning from his position with McDonald’s Europe. The current Executive Vice President of the chain’s Global Supply Chain, Dave Goare, will step up into the position effective September 30th.

SONIC’s breakfast menu is growing with the addition of three breakfast burritos. The flavor options include The Steak & Egg Breakfast Burrito, The Ultimate Meat & Cheese Breakfast Burrito and the Fiesta Steak Breakfast Burrito. Unlike other chains, the entire breakfast menu including these new burritos is available all day.

Wingstop held its 9th annual International Convention recently and honored a number of franchisees, partners and employees. Hidden Valley and Clorox were named the top Vendor Partners of the Year. The single-unit operator of the year was Cassandra Stokes from Nacogdoches, Texas. Another franchisee from Texas took the Multi-Unit Operator of the Year award.

The Central Florida region now has a new high-end supper club. Nationally acclaimed chefs, Tyler Brassil and Loren Falsone, are joining together to create The Table in Orlando. The restaurant will serve a 5 course, chef’s choice menu that changes each season. The restaurant mimics the social aspects of a traditional supper club by offering seating at a single table.

El Pollo Loco has named Dennis Farrow as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer. Farrow is now responsible for overseeing the total operation of over 400 locations. He comes to the company with over 20 years of restaurant industry experience. Prior employers include the IHOP corporation and Taco Bell.

CB Holding Corp. has filed a Joint Plan of Reorganization and matching disclosure statement as part of their bankruptcy case. The company has also successfully sold off all of its restaurant chains, including the Office Beer Bar & Grill and Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse. This makes CB Holding Corp. now closed.

The T.G.I Friday’s locations operating in Northern California are now under new ownership. Stripes Restaurants purchased the operating rights for the San Mateo and Cupertine locations. Both will continue business as usual. The previous owners of the restaurants weren’t locally based, but the Stripes Restaurant group is.

The Palm Restaurant Group is refreshing and updating its brand just as its 85th anniversary comes up. Everything from the tableware and uniforms of waiters to the brand logo and ad campaigns will be remodeled. 20 of the 28 restaurants that form the chain have been renovated according to the new brand plan.

The VooDoo BBQ & Grill chain combines the spicy flavors of Cajun cooking with barbeque. The company signed a new agreement with a franchisee to bring 5 restaurants to the Austin, Texas area. Despite the state’s reputation for great barbeque, the Cajun fusion style of VooDoo BBQ is still in high demand in Austin.

Smashburger is continuing to ride the trend of better-quality burgers and is expanding again. The newest restaurant location will open in Louisville, Kentucky. The restaurant is set to open on September 7th. A second restaurant location is in the works for the town and will open a few months from now.
