Restaurant News Bites: IHOP, Starbucks, TossedIHOP restaurants are inviting all families with children under 12 to come in for their “Kids Eat Free” dinner promotion. During the month of April children can choose one meal from the Just For Kids menu between 4 and 10 pm. The menu includes pancake classics like the Create-a-Face dish and dinner favorites like macaroni and cheese and chicken strips.

The earthquake and tsunami damage in Japan has temporarily closed 10% of Starbucks located in the country, but the company says that it won’t have much a financial impact on the chain due to size. Starbucks holds its Japanese business in high regard, and plans to restore the closed locations as quickly as possible. The other 90% of Starbucks in Japan are operating normally.

Tossed has added a new wrap to their lunch and dinner menu. The national fresh salad chain recently introduced the Spicy Shrimp and Strawberry Salsa Crepe Wrap. It is only available until June 30th for $8.95. The wrap features a fresh crepe filled with cayenne shrimp and strawberry and cilantro salsa.

The New Miami Subs Grill is exploring expansion and new ideas with the Dallas based Franchise Associates company. The new partnership will start with the unveiling of a new concept to refresh the 23 year old chain. While the chain is based around Miami, Florida concepts, they are looking to expand into the East Coast.

Krispy Kreme has finally reported turning a profit again, after constant reports of loss since 2004. During the 2011 fiscal year the company pulled in a 4.5% revenue increase, a same store sales increase of 4.0% and a net income of $7.6 million dollars. These figures come from 646 Krispy Kreme retail locations in the United States.

The Men of McCafe Casting Call has been extended as McDonald’s searches for 5 men between 18 and 34 to star in a new series of commercials. The men who are selected will travel to the 2011 Essence Music Awards with the company. Celebrities working on the project include Lamman Rucker of “Meet the Browns” and Hosea Chanchez of “The Game”.

Dickey’s Barbecue is celebrating their new Peachtree City, Georgia location with a grand opening event today.  Customers can enter to win free barbeque for a year, or just enjoy quality barbeque sandwiches and sides. The chain currently operates 146 locations in 33 states.

Bojangles’ 10th annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy fundraiser has raised over $300,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The money will be used to send children suffering from the disorder to the MDA Summer Camp. The camp is designed to accommodate children with wheelchairs and mobility issues caused by muscular dystrophy.
