Tocaya Welcomes Back Tamales and Introduces Red Pozole for the Holidays

Vegan options and fan favorites combine for a festive, comforting winter menu

Tocaya Welcomes Back Tamales and Introduces Red Pozole for the HolidaysVenice, CA  (RestaurantNews.com)  The holidays at Tocaya are all about flavor, comfort and a little nostalgia. Available now, the modern Mexican kitchen is bringing back Sweet Corn Tamales, a longtime guest favorite, and adding something new to the table: Red Pozole.

Soft, savory and wrapped in a little holiday joy, Tocaya’s Sweet Corn Tamales are back for the first time since 2019 by popular demand. The seasonal return fits right in with the growing wave of nostalgia-driven food items showing up on menus, especially during the holidays, and will be available through Jan. 6.

Each tamale is house-made with sweet corn kernels, roasted poblano peppers, masa and a bright roasted tomato salsa. Guests can order tamales individually ($2.65 each), by the half-dozen ($14.95), or by the dozen ($28.95), along with a new tamale kids meal ($7.25).

“Tamales are rooted in tradition and meaning, and we take a lot of care making them for our guests to enjoy,” said Oliver Plust, executive corporate chef for Tocaya. “They’re handmade, plant-based and showcase the balance of craft and seasonal flavor we strive for in all our menu items, and are perfect for enjoying with family and friends during the holiday season.”

New to the lineup, Tocaya’s Red Pozole takes over for the Spicy Chicken Soup this winter. Hearty, warm and full of flavor, this dish layers shredded chicken tinga, hominy, radish, cabbage and a kick of chile in a savory chicken broth, topped with cilantro, onion and a squeeze of lime. Enjoy it as a cup or bowl, or pair it with a Taco or Torta Combo. A small portion is priced at $5.75, while a large portion costs $8.65.

“Our pozole is warm and flavorful, and it’s the kind of dish that’s especially satisfying on cold winter days,” said Plust.

Both dishes are now available at all Tocaya locations for a limited time. Designed for holiday get-togethers or cozy nights in, Tocaya’s winter menu brings together the best of modern Mexican comfort food.
