Although hot dogs have long been a somewhat humble hallmark of the American diet, Nathan’s Famous is planning on expanding globally from China to Canada.
The Jericho-based firm, which grew out of a Coney Island flagship store that opened many years ago, in an annual filing on Wednesday said it entered China this year and plans to open in Canada the following year.
Nathan’s said as of March 27, 2011, its Nathan’s Famous restaurant system included 264 franchised units and five company-owned units in 26 states and six foreign countries. But Nathan’s wasn’t available in China until this year.
