Eating out at a participating restaurant will help end child hunger in America this fall. From September 18th to 24th, over 5,000 restaurants will donate part of their proceeds to Share Our Strength. The Dine Out For No Kid Hungry week benefits the over 16 million children in this country that experience hunger on a daily basis.
Applebee’s and ESPN have paired up to give football fans a chance at the ultimate sports experience. Guests who check in at their local Applebee’s restaurant on Monday nights will have a chance to instantly win a gift card, and they will be entered into the sweepstakes. The grand prize includes a trip to New York City and a tour of the ESPN headquarters.
Quiznos is bringing back their popular Black Angus sub with new toppings and bread. The sub features sliced steak on Rosemary Parmesan topped bread. Two types of melted cheese and sauteed mushrooms and onions finish the sandwich. The sandwich will only be available for a limited time at all Quiznos locations.
The Atlanta based This Is It! Barbeque and Seafood restaurant chain took the “Best Barbeque” award in Home Depot’s recent competition. The chain beat out three other nationally known chains to take first place. The chain will be holding a Customer Appreciation Day at all eight locations on October 7th to celebrate the win.
Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill has signed a new agreement with Savory Investments to bring their chain to Reno, Nevada. The franchise agreement stipulates that this location will be open by the end of 2011. The chain already has locations in Boise, Idaho, Anchorage, Alaska, and two locations in Arizona.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers is adding exciting new items to its menu for its new Oktoberfest celebration. The new Oktoberfest Burger features a pretzel bun, beer mustard, black forest ham and sauteed onions on a fire grilled patty. Sweet and spicy ketchup inspired by Bavaria will also be offered to complete the German feast.
Jamba Juice, one of the leading companies offering healthy smoothies and other treats, has paired with Diet Diva Tara Gidus. Gidus is a registered dietician and nutritionist and plans to help the chain develop even more healthy menu items. She’s already created meal plans that are available on the company’s website for different goals like weight loss or muscle building.
The news that catering orders from office buildings and other professional workplaces were down for the past three years isn’t surprising. However, breakfast and dinner orders did rise from a variety of offices since 2007. These orders rose over 13% even as lunch catering became less popular. The time shift indicates a different focus for many businesses.
Saladworks began as a food mall location in the Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey. The restaurant outsold burger chains and other fast food locations within a year, and founder John Scardapane realized that he could take the brand to the national level. In the past 25 years Saladworks has grown to 100 locations in 12 states.
Seasons 52 has announced the rollout of its Fall 2011 menu as it sticks with its plan to release new menus each season. The Autumn menu will highlight seasonal produce like mushrooms, apples and winter squash. The dishes will begin to be offered at all Seasons 52 locations on September 20th.
