Gyro Republic, the fast casual franchise bringing New York City halal cart culture to America’s suburbs, has signed three development agreements totaling nine locations across Texas: five in Austin, three in San Antonio, and one in Dallas, as the brand accelerates national expansion heading into 2026.
Houston, TX (RestaurantNews.com) For decades, halal street carts have been woven into the fabric of American cities, from New York to Los Angeles, serving up bold, made-to-order favorites like chicken over rice that define modern American street food culture.
Gyro Republic brings that same energy, customization, and flavor to the fast casual space with customizable rice bowls, salads, gyros, loaded fries, and its signature Gyrito® (a burrito-style wrap). Every dish features 100% halal proteins, fresh ingredients, and the bold sauces that made street cart dining iconic.
The Texas expansion coincides with a comprehensive brand refresh including updated visual identity, messaging, and menu innovation designed to support accelerated national growth and strengthen Gyro Republic’s positioning as the leader in American street food.
To lead this next phase, Gyro Republic has brought on Chuck McAulay as fractional Chief Marketing Officer, advising on brand strategy, marketing execution, and franchise development initiatives.
“Gyro Republic was built from my love of New York City street food the classic chicken over rice carts that have become as American as tacos or pizza,” said Rehan Ranpuri, Founder and CEO of Gyro Republic. “We’re bringing that same bold flavor, speed, and customization to communities across Texas and beyond. These nine new locations represent a major step forward as we scale a brand rooted in quality, choice, and the street food culture that defines American cities.”
“Gyro Republic is leading the American street food category at exactly the right time,” said McAulay. “Street food carts are part of the fabric of American cities, and consumers are looking for that same experience in a fast casual format. Our brand refresh sharpens that story and positions Gyro Republic for the rapid growth this category deserves. With nine Texas locations signed and proven franchise systems in place, 2026 is our breakout year.”
Built for Customization and Speed
The menu centers on customization and speed, anchored by the brand’s signature Gyrito® a burrito-style wrap that’s become a cult favorite alongside rice bowls, salads, gyros, and loaded fries.
Gyro Republic’s menu allows guests to build their meal starting with bases including signature basmati turmeric rice, spicy rice, fresh romaine, or warm pita bread. All-halal protein options include chicken, spicy chicken, gyro, chicken tikka, and falafel. Meals are finished with fresh toppings and house-made sauces including Creamy White, Mild Orange, Red Hot, and Tzatziki.
Gyro Republic is actively seeking experienced operators and entrepreneurs interested in bringing American street food to their communities.
