Bojangles’ has found recipe for sustained growth

It makes sense to pay attention to any company that has figured out a way to keep expanding even as fallout from the Great Recession curbs consumers’ enthusiasm and makes each sale harder to come by.

And when you own a quick-service restaurant chain, it takes a lot of chicken biscuits or burgers to move the needle on revenue.

Despite such hurdles, Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ’n Biscuits has managed to become the fastest-growing chain of its type in the country, scoring its highest rates of growth over the past three years.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based outfit expects $800 million in sales this year, and it figures it can hit the $1 billion sales mark within 2½ years, said Eric Newman, Bojangles’ executive vice president.
