People came out in record attendance at Dickey’s original location at 4610 N. Central Expressway in Dallas, TX. They came out in the chilly autumn weather to support and celebrate 70 years of Dickey’s slow smoked signature meats and tasty barbecue.
Dallas residents and guests flocked in numbers to partake in the many festivities which included: $1 pulled pork sandwiches and $1 drinks, trivia, caricatures, face painting, barbecue eating contest and music by Troubadour TX and Black Top Gypsy!
The first place winner of the Dickey’s National Barbecue Eating Contest was Eric “Silo” Dahl. The over-zealous barbecue loving participant from Minneapolis, MN devoured 12.5 of Dickey’s Southern pulled pork big barbecue sandwiches in a remarkable 6 minutes, winning the grand prize of $500! The 2nd and 3rd place winners, Randy Santel from Overland Park, KS, polished off 10 sandwiches, while Dax Swanson from Pleasanton, CA, savored 6 slow-smoked pulled-pork sandwiches.
