Pittsburgh, PA  (RestaurantNews.com)  Kings Family Restaurant, a Western PA-based restaurant chain, will celebrate its 45th anniversary tomorrow, November 21, 2012. To thank its patrons, Kings will offer their signature Hot Apple Pie with cinnamon ice cream dessert at a special price of just 45 cents (dine-in only).

“It’s been a wonderful 45 years,” said Hartley King, founder and president. “I just want to take a moment to thank all of our customers over the years for their continued support. Our success has been a direct result of our people and the community we serve.”

In 1967, Kings Family Restaurant opened its doors at the corner of Routes 48 and 30 in North Versailles. Dubbed “Kings Country Shoppes,” this first location took on the name of Kings Family Restaurants – indicating that the place was indeed a restaurant and not a country store that served milk and butter. In the 1970’s, King opened six locations and by the 1980’s the chain grew to 21. Today, with more than 30 locations, Kings employs more than 2,000 people who serve more than one million restaurant-goers each month.

“In addition to our commitment to serving delicious family meals, we’ve also made a commitment to give back to our community,” said Chris Whalen, Chief Financial Officer at Kings Family Restaurant. “We have supported many local charities over the years and most recently have partnered with the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania to help fund their mission of providing essential housing, employment and support services to local veterans and their families.”
