Mimi’s Café Joins Forces with Ellise Pierce, author of COWGIRL CHEF: Texas Cooking with a French Accent, To Select Winner of Mimi’s French-Inspired, American Comfort Food Recipe Contest
Dallas, TX (RestaurantNews.com) Mimi’s, the popular neighborhood café offering French-inspired American comfort food, is giving its diners an opportunity to create the next great recipe for Mimi’s.
Ellise Pierce, author of COWGIRL CHEF: Texas Cooking with a French Accent, will help Mimi’s judge its French-Inspired American Comfort Food recipe contest, which ends June 17. The winning guest will have his or her recipe featured in Mimi’s 97 cafés coast to coast in September.
“We’re looking for your original French-inspired, American comfort recipe to feature in café s nationwide,” said Mimi’s CMO Stewart Slocum. “And we’re thrilled to have The Cowgirl Chef, Ellise Pierce, as a judge on our culinary team. She has the perfect combination of French & American style that Mimi’s wants to find from its diners for its next great recipe.”
In addition to having their recipe featured at Mimi’s, the grand prize winner will win a trip to France for two and the runner-up will win a trip to Korbel Champagne Cellars in California for two.

“This is really an exciting opportunity for someone who loves to make French-American dishes to be recognized for his or her culinary creativity,” said Pierce, a native Texan who is living and cooking in Paris. “Mimi’s food is widely celebrated and to have one’s dish selected to join that exclusive club is a once-in-a-lifetime honor.”
Pierce’s unique approach to cooking has caught the eye of US media. She has been featured on numerous radio and television shows and has written stories for Fort Worth Star Telegram, Dallas Morning News and Edible Dallas, among others. When she’s stateside, she teaches cooking classes at Central Market stores throughout Texas and at Lake Austin Spa Resort. She’s now working on her second cookbook.
In order the enter the recipe contest, guests must submit an original recipe, which must be a French-inspired American comfort food dish (appetizer, main entrée, salad or dessert) using up to, but not more than 10 total ingredients. Entrants must also name the Mimi’s location they visit most and a digital photo of the prepared recipe. Mimi’s judging panel, which includes Pierce, will select a winner based on perceived taste of the finished recipe (50%), creativity (25%) and visual appeal (25%). Ability to execute the dish with operational ease will also play a factor in judging. The contest winner will be chosen by July 8. Must be 21 or older to participate.
