Meridian, MS (RestaurantNews.com) Mugshots Grill & Bar concluded 2025 with its first-ever Culinary Olympics: a quarter-long, Olympic-style internal competition designed to elevate operational excellence, teamwork, and culinary standards across all 21 Mugshots locations.
The Culinary Olympics challenged restaurant teams through a series of evaluations and activities focused on food safety, cleanliness, speed, consistency, and teamwork. After months of competition, four locations emerged as finalists: Meridian, Pearl, Gulfport, and Florence – with Meridian ultimately earning the top honor.
Throughout the competition, locations were assessed on core operational fundamentals, including line checks, proper food cuts, storage and temperature accuracy, freshness, and adherence to prep and procedural standards. Teams were also encouraged to think creatively by developing new menu concepts as part of the challenge.
In addition to culinary and procedural evaluations, teams participated in fast-paced and physical challenges designed to test efficiency, stamina, and collaboration in a high-energy, team-focused environment. As the competition progressed, challenges evolved to further push teams and reinforce consistency and accountability across all locations.
