The Month-Long Collaboration Will Benefit Miami’s Battier Take Charge Foundation
Miami, FL (RestaurantNews.com) Miami’s own PINCHO has built its reputation on scratch-made, Latin-inspired burgers and kebabs that reflect the city’s flavor, creativity and culture. Now, the hometown favorite is teaming up with Houston burger legend Bernie’s Burger Bus and chef-owner Justin Turner for a one-of-a-kind collaboration.
Although Bernie’s shuttered during the pandemic, the love for the brand has never faded in Houston. Now, PINCHO is reviving Bernie’s iconic flavors – and sharing them with Miami for the first time. This September, burger fans can enjoy a Bernie’s Five-Year Class Reunion at PINCHO, Tuesday, Sept. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 5, at all South Florida and Houston locations. A portion of proceeds will benefit The Battier Take Charge Foundation in Miami, with Houston sales supporting The Periwinkle Foundation.
A Natural Partnership
For PINCHO Cofounder & CEO Otto Othman, the collaboration with Turner was an easy decision.
“Both PINCHO and Bernie’s started scrappy and homegrown, fueled by passion and creativity,” Othman says. “We’ve always believed food should be fun, bold and rooted in community. Bringing Bernie’s flavors to Miami for the first time is exciting – not just for our guests but for us, too. It’s an honor to give people a taste of such an iconic brand.”
The Menu
Turner and PINCHO Culinary Director Adrian Sanchez worked together to recreate Bernie’s favorites with a Miami twist:
- The Bernie’s Burger – PINCHO’s Black Angus patty with pepper jack, beer-battered jalapeños, slow-roasted garlic tomatoes, lettuce and cilantro-jalapeño aioli on a toasted brioche bun. ($12.99)
- Honor Roll Fries – PINCHO’s fries topped with slow-cooked vaca frita, chipotle-mango barbecue sauce, white cheddar and scallions. ($9.99 / $17.99)
Giving Back
In Miami, $1 from every Bernie’s Burger sold will go to The Battier Take Charge Foundation, which provides educational opportunities and resources for underserved youth in Miami, Houston and Detroit. For every burger sold in Houston, PINCHO will donate $1 to the Periwinkle Foundation, an organization dear to Turner that supports children and families affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
“The city of Houston has treated me amazingly for the 20 years I’ve been here,” says Turner, who once served as Battier’s personal chef and credits the athlete’s move to the Houston Rockets for connecting him to the city. “Five years after Bernie’s closed feels like the right time to bring back a taste. I’ve had a few people reach out to do something together, and it just never felt right. This, from the beginning, felt different – and once Otto mentioned making it charitable, which is a big deal for me, it was a no-brainer.”

About PINCHO
PINCHO is a community-minded fast-casual brand born in Miami. Founded in 2010, PINCHO was inspired by family recipes and a Latin take on the classic American burger. Serving a feast of flavorful, made-from-scratch fusion dishes and showcasing seasonal specials, PINCHO has grown from a local startup to one of South Florida’s most beloved fast-casual concepts and a three-time winner of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash. The brand has since expanded to Texas, with four Houston-area locations. To learn more, visit PINCHO.com.
About Bernie’s Burger Bus
Chef Justin Turner launched Bernie’s Burger Bus in Houston in 2010, first operating out of a converted school bus before expanding to multiple brick-and-mortar locations. Known for its scratch-made burgers, hand-cut fries and playful, school-themed menu, Bernie’s became a Houston cult favorite until its closure in 2020.
