New Orleans-born coffeehouse launches holiday fundraising campaign starting Nov. 1

PJ's Coffee Partners with Make-A-Wish to Give Local Child Gift of JoyNew Orleans, LA  (RestaurantNews.com)  In the true spirit of community and compassion, PJ’s Coffee is collaborating with Make-A-Wish® to fulfill a special wish for a child in need.

From Wednesday, Nov. 1 until Sunday, Dec. 31, Make-A-Wish and PJ’s Coffee will raise awareness and funds for children with critical illnesses. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase a “Make-A-Wish Star” in increments of $1, $3 or $5 and sign their name on the star to be taped inside participating PJ’s Coffee locations.

As part of this fundraising effort, Make-A-Wish will bring to life 18-year-old Theresa’s wish to travel from her home in Texas to see snow and the northern lights in Alaska for the first time. Theresa, who has a gastrointestinal disorder, has an energy that shines as glorious and bright as the northern lights themselves.

“The hope and joy of a wish like Theresa’s are one of the most valuable gifts one can give through the power of community — it’s transformational,” said Shelly Millwee, Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana president and CEO. “Together with PJ’s Coffee, we are excited to see our friends and neighbors rally around Theresa, and all of our wish kids, to bring many more wishes like hers to life.”

About PJ’s Coffee

Phyllis Jordan, a pioneer in the coffee industry, founded PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans in 1978 and demonstrated that better beans, superior roasting techniques, and pure passion for the art of coffeemaking mattered. In 2008, the company was purchased by New Orleans natives and brothers Paul, Steven, and Scott Ballard. PJ’s Coffee serves a wide variety of hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages using only the best quality Arabica coffee beans, as well as organic tea and fresh breakfast pastries. PJ’s Original Cold Brew™ Ice Coffee is brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans, while producing a coffee that is two-thirds less acidic – a process and technique developed by its founder and used for more than 45 years at all PJ’s locations. Bags of whole bean coffee and single serve cups of PJ’s Coffee are available for sale in-store and online. With more than 175 operating stores, including four international locations, PJ’s Coffee continues to grow in the U.S. and abroad.
