Fast-growing acai and smoothie brand expands Southeast footprint with grand opening of second North Carolina location
Charlotte, NC (RestaurantNews.com) South Block is continuing its multistate expansion with the opening of its newest location in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood at 1711 Commonwealth Ave., Suite 140, on Saturday, April 11. This debut marks the brand’s 25th location systemwide and its second in North Carolina, signaling continued growth across the Southeast.
To celebrate, South Block will host a grand-opening Block Party starting at 11 a.m., with the first 100 guests in line receiving FREE Mini Warrior Acai Bowls. The event will also feature a live DJ, exclusive giveaways and branded swag, giving guests and neighbors the opportunity to experience the good vibes firsthand.
Located in one of Charlotte’s most vibrant and walkable districts, the Plaza Midwood shop brings South Block’s menu of fresh, handcrafted acai bowls, smoothies and cold-pressed juices to a growing community seeking convenient options made with real ingredients.
“As we scale into new markets, our focus is on building stores that become part of the daily rhythm of the block,” said Steve Heeley, president of South Block. “Charlotte represents an important step in our Southeast growth, and Plaza Midwood in particular offers a strong sense of identity and foot traffic that aligns with how we approach expansion. Growth for us isn’t just about adding locations. It’s about creating consistent experiences rooted in quality and community connection.”
The Plaza Midwood location will serve South Block’s full lineup of acai bowls and smoothies all made fresh to order. Designed to fit a variety of lifestyles, the menu offers options suited for morning routines, fitness goals and on-the-go meals throughout the day.
New menu additions include mini acai bowls, offering a more flexible way to enjoy fan favorites, as well as protein smoothies, such as the Daily Protein and Incredible Bulk Smoothies, to support post-workout recovery and everyday nutrition needs.
South Block in Plaza Midwood will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
