Kansas City, MO  (RestaurantNews.com)  Opening Thursday, February 9 for dinner and February 10 for lunch and dinner, a rustic-style Italian bistro is landing in Kansas City’s Old Westport with the The Boot Ristorante, created by chef-owners Aaron Confessori and Richard Wiles. This full-service Italian eatery is situated directly next to its French-inspired counterpart, Westport Café & Bar. The Boot offers a similar dining experience as its neighbor, but with an Italian point-of-view. Located at 415 Westport Road, The Boot Ristorante is open daily, serving its full menu until 1:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday and until midnight on Sunday. The bar remains open past dining hours until 1:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday and midnight on Sunday.

Seeking casual, affordable and flavorful Italian options in Kansas City, local restaurateur Aaron Confessori was inspired to extend his internationally-influenced culinary background with Chef Richard Wiles. The duo has already teamed up on the French-inspired bistro, Westport Café & Bar, and more recently, the international-inspired food truck, Westport Street Fare. Bringing the casual feel of street cafes and bistros of real Italy, The Boot offers rustic Italian cuisine, blending fresh and simple ingredients with true Italian tradition in a 1,000 square-foot setting.

The menu features antipasti, house made pasta, pizza, entrees, and desserts. Customizable dishes, including handmade meatballs and locally-made Krizman’s sausages, are accompanied with a choice of three sauces.

Three styles of meatballs include “Classico” with ground beef and prosciutto, “Porco Piccante” with pork shoulder and hot pickled cherry peppers, and “Chicken” with black pepper, fennel seed and herbs. The locally-made Krizman’s sausages features three styles – Italian, Bratwurst and Chicken. The Boot Ristorante uses special sauces to complement the featured meatball and sausage selections. The sauces are inspired by dining found in Italy and New York City, including Pomodoro, Parmesan Cream, and Mushroom Gravy. Handmade pastas, such as the Fusilli and hand-pulled mozzarella, add artisan elements to menu.

COCKTAILS, WINE, BEER:  A highlight of the cocktail menu at the The Boot Ristorante are the seven highballs as well as the three classic Italian cocktails, the Aperol Americano, Negroni and Bellini.  In addition, the hand-crafted cocktail list includes four new cocktails created for The Boot –  Jack’s Mule, Ivy League, Hot Branded Bourbon, and Gone With Whimsy. The Boot also offers Averna Sparkling Sangria as well as a boutique wine and beer list.
