SSCP-Owned Applebee's in Texas, California and Virginia Bring Back "Buy a Hero a Bud" in Anticipation of Veterans Day

Beginning Today, guests can buy a Bud for a neighborhood military hero; Unclaimed funds will again benefit Folds of Honor.

Dallas, TX  (RestaurantNews.com)  SSCP, an Applebee’s franchisee operating in Texas, California, and Virginia, announced today that it will bring back its “Buy A Hero A Bud” program in partnership with Anheuser-Busch, alongside Applebee’s national Veterans Day promotion on November 11. Beginning today and continuing through Veterans Day, guests at SSCP-owned Applebee’s can “Buy A Hero A Bud” for a local veteran or active-duty service member, redeemable at the restaurant. SSCP will again donate funds from unclaimed Bud beers to Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to families of America’s fallen or disabled military members and first responders.

“Veterans Day at Applebee’s has always been special to us, but Buy A Hero A Bud makes the connection between our guests and local military heroes even more personal,” said SSCP’s Vice President of Marketing Blake Roe. “A guest can buy a beer for someone they may never meet, and on Veterans Day that veteran learns a neighbor thought enough of their service and sacrifice to say thank you. We saw what that meant to people when we launched the program, and we are proud to bring it back again.”

Now entering its fourth year, Buy A Hero A Bud builds on three years of support from SSCP Applebee’s guests. To date, guests at SSCP-owned Applebee’s have pre-purchased more than 15,000 Buds for local military heroes, and SSCP has donated more than $30,000 to Folds of Honor. In 2025 alone, guests pre-bought 3,532 Budweiser, Bud Light and Budweiser Zero beers, generating more than $7,700 for Folds of Honor.

SSCP has always prioritized supporting military members in its neighborhoods. In 2007, when SSCP owner Sunil Dharod purchased his Texas Applebee’s restaurants, he was among the early Applebee’s franchise owners to offer free meals to veterans on Veterans Day. This tradition has since become an industry standard. Buy A Hero A Bud extends that spirit by letting guests directly honor military members in their own communities.
